Named for J. Ward Walker, who leased the first and basement levels of the Masonic Temple Building for his department store from 1895 to about 1925. Today this central open event space on the ground floor features restored original Douglass Fir flooring, and corrugated metal ceiling together with modern heating, cooling, and restroom facilities. This 1,800 sq ft space can accommodate approximately 144 seated for banquet, but also has picture rails and functions as a gallery / exhibit, and community event space. During 2009, the room hosted the travelling exhibit “Faces of Lincoln”, and also the Will Vawter Art show, numerous private events, and public meetings. The room is directly adjacent to the Creative Arts Gallery Hall, and can handle overflow from this area, as well as dedicated events. Together with CrazyLake Art House, and the Creative Arts Gallery, the main floor of the Creative Arts and Event Center offers one of the largest private exhibition gallery spaces in Central Indiana.
